Charles H. Jordan

Charles H. Jordan was born in Currituck County, NC. He is the oldest of three sons born to the late Charlie and Annie Marie Jordan who were life long residents of Currituck County. He was a valedictorian graduate of Currituck Union High School. He matriculated at North Carolina A & T State University where he earned a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He also served his country in the Air National Guard.

After graduation, his first job was as an auditor with the Bendix Corporation in Teterboro, NJ. Upon moving to Philadelphia, PA, he worked as an Auditor for the Federal Reserve Bank. His next position was with the City of Philadelphia for 26 years. During this time, he held positions as an Accountant with the Finance Department and as Fiscal Director for the city-owned Philadelphia Nursing Home. Mr. Jordan later became the Administrator of the Philadelphia Nursing Home for several years. After leaving city government, he worked in the private sector as a Nursing Home Administrator and as a Regional Administrator overseeing six nursing homes.

Upon retirement in 1997, he returned to North Carolina and settled in Pasquotank County. As owner and operator of a charter bus business, C & R Tours, Inc. as well as manager of his father's business, Jordan Bus Service, Inc., he served many people in Pasquotank and surrounding counties. Upon deciding to retire for a second time, all the buses were sold in 2005.

Commissioner Jordan served the community through various boards and committees:

  • Pasquotank County Planning Board
  • Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners, 2010
  • Elizabeth City Downtown, Inc.

Mr. Jordan has been married to Rita Moore Jordan for fifty (55) years. They are parents of Dana M. Jordan Cobbs and her husband, Preston E. Cobbs, Jr.
